A Book About a Story
CHAPTER ONE
One day she woke up...
It came to mind that she wasn't sure how she felt about this. It felt somewhat strange of a thing to do. Almost new, almost as if it was something she had never done before. Living could feel similar to her, as well as the whole life thing. She wasn't sure what she wanted to do in her life, or where she wanted to go. But what she was, is a whole other story.
Directly after waking up, she started to think about herself. She first thought about who she was. Outside of some less obvious things she was a girl! She was somewhat young but still an adult. She was not very tall but not very short. She was not very thin but not very big, mildly chubby. She had hair! Yes of course she had hair. Something not short but also not long. Average, she was really just going for an average look.
She then looked around her self. Around the place she was in. Around the place she lived in, of course she had a house. She looked around her house! She was in her house, in her room, sitting up from her bed. Maybe these things seemed obvious to some people but to her they were all new! It was as if this was the very first time she ever woke up. The very first page of her story.
Her room was not very big, as she wasn't a person of high or wealthy status. But the room wasn't tiny either. It was a very average size bed room. The house too was very average sized. Much about herself, her things, her life, it was all average. She looked to the hard wood floors, the stone brick walls, and the glass windows. She wasn't in fact sure if the windows felt appropriate but she loved the idea of gazing out to the world safely from inside her very average house. Protected by a thin breakable layer of glass that could easily shatter into pieces. What a strange thought to have.
However it was enough thinking about things! She had been awake for this long; it was time to get up and stretch! She started by looking down at her feet. She had feet, she thought. Strangely shaped long hands that held her body up. She quickly jumped onto the feet and almost instantly fell back onto the bed. It seems the feet were not perfect at holding her body up. She tried again, but slower this time.
She placed one foot down, the left foot. She had decided she was right handed so it felt oddly correct to lead with her left foot. She was left footed if that was a thing. It probably isn't. She then placed her right foot down next to it. Not too close, but not too far apart either. Even though the bed was soft and comfy, she didn't want a repeat of a moment ago. She then lifted from her back, and bent her knees straight. There! She was up! Standing! On her feet! How strange and exciting she thought to herself.
Next was a more exhaustive task, walking. She wasn't sure what speed to start at, but with the excitement of standing; she went with what felt right for the mood. It was hardly a whole moment later that she found herself on the floor, her nose, and most of her face hurt. She looked around for a moment grasping that she was indeed no longer standing and was now sitting on the floor in face pain. So much face pain that her face was leaking! Her eyes were leaking and her nose felt as if at any moment it too might leak.
She took the next moment to think about walls. You cannot walk through walls. Doing so would defeat the purpose of them after all wouldn't it? That logical statement known, she wasn't sure how she felt about walls. Even though they were doing their job, she felt a kind of grudge about the wall causing her such immense face pain.
She slowly got up, holding her face in one hand, and pushing away from the much disliked floor with the other. She felt her eyes leaking onto her cheek then fall from her face to the floor. She did not like walking into walls at all! From this point on she made herself a promise to avoid walking into walls as much as possible. For the good of her face!
Experiencing pain made her decide that perhaps there are times that excitement should not be a direct motivation for one's actions or the speed at which one does things. She would walk slowly from now on, even if excited. Maybe one day if something extreme happens she may try to run, and running would be fast! Much faster then walking! But even then she would avoid walls as much as possible.
She looked down at her body, and decided that she must not of slept naked, she had on a loose nightgown. She turned around from the vile wall of face pain, and walked to her dresser. She pulled out clothing for today's activities. Something sensible and modest. Something blue! Seeing the outside world through her window; how green everything was! The green grass, the green trees, the green bushes, she felt like blue would be the perfect color to match all the beautiful shades of green.
After getting dressed, she walked her way to her bedroom door and slowly opened it. A door was a moving wall after all. How scary when you think about it! A wall that could move... You didn't even have to run into it, it could run into you!
Once opened she walked past it, and closed it behind her. She felt safer with the moving wall in a closed position. She knew it couldn't follow her but she could have nightmares about such horrors. Doors should remain closed she thought. Unless you're in between them; you wouldn't want a door closed on you! Wow, doors really are such dangerous things.
The next room was her kitchen, and dining room. It was an average house after all, not too much in it, and she lived alone. While she was a bit hungry she was also so exited to go to the outside, and explore the green all around her home. She even dressed for the occasion after all! So she decided to grab a couple fruits that were in a bowl on the table. Bowl fruit.
Food she thought. This was another thing that may be obvious or normal to many, but she had far less experience with it. She opened her mouth, strange she thought, she had a mouth, and it opened, kinda like a door, and she put things inside of it, and they disappeared, and then later they came back out. The ending part of a food's journey was something she wasn't crazy to think about while trying to eat.
She held the fruit up to her mouth, then closed her teeth onto it. She now held a small piece of the fruit inside of her mouth, and she some what violently started to tear it apart into smaller pieces with her vicious teeth! They were really average teeth but she felt like this process was very vicious really. She delighted in it! Making some “rawr” sounds and little growls as she did. Then she swallowed.
This was a process she didn't think about until the moment happened, and just as it was happening for a split second she has a fear. What if the swallowing didn't work! What if the food attacked back! Revenge for the chewing! What if the food got stuck in her throat and she suffocated and died from an apple! What an awful way for the story to end!
But as if it was an automatic reaction, the food was already being swallowed. Down her throat into her belly. Maybe she should have told it bye or waved but like magic it was gone! She had made yet another decision; food was very, very yummy and good to eat, and her tummy was made of magic! Like pulling a rabbit out of a hat but in reverse. Rabbit, what did that taste like; and why are rabbits living inside hats anyway!?
She stood there at her table finishing off the last of the apple, and grabbing a few grapes before excitedly making her way to the front door. Of course the front had to have a door too. Couldn't just be a bedroom thing these doors had to be everywhere. She braced herself, this wasn't time to be scared of a moving wall. This was it, she was ready to run about in her blue dress among all the green! She had waited her whole existence for this very moment, to leave her house! It was fate! Destiny had arrived, and it was just past this door. She closed her eyes, took a breath, turned the door knob, and jumped outside!
She did it! She was outside! She felt the warm breeze blow against her skin, the glow of the powerful sun above. She opened her eyes, and smiled at all the green! All the beautiful never ending green! The grass and the pretty yellow and pink flowers! She looked up at the powerful tall trees! The beautiful bright sun, the... What the fuck was that!? Her smile quickly turned to a frown. There was blue stuff everywhere! The whole, what is it? Sky! The whole sky was blue! But she wanted to be blue!
She slammed the door closed behind her and walked onward a bit. Looking up to the awful blue sky, not paying attention to anything else. Just looking around, wondering off from her home, looking for an end to the blueness that invaded her green fantasy. It seemed endless! She looked back down, back at the green parts, the pretty parts, not that ugly blue that stole her glory.
Looking at the ground she waved the bottom of her dress around. Playing with it a little pretending that she was the only blue against the green. Like it should be! Like it was suppose to be! She thought, at least she still was blue and the grass did look really pretty against her blue dress.
“Hello there miss.”
She froze still. Something was talking to her!!! No, someone was talking to her. Someone was there other then herself! A voice! She had felt like someone was by her, or someone was watching her all this time since she woke up but she didn't expect anyone to directly talk to her.
She slowly looked up to see a young man carrying a sack of carrots on his back. She felt calmed by this, she wasn't sure what she was expecting to see but this felt less intimidating and harmful then it could have been. I mean for all she knew it could have been a talking blue door here to seek vengeance against the biting of the bowl fruit!
But it wasn't, and now she was in a turmoil. She had to reply to him! What to reply? She went with what was on her mind,
“I don't like the sky.”
The young man seemed confused for a second,
“Oh, haha. Yea it is a bit sunny today isn't it. I like the sun but sometimes out here in the field it's a bit much.”
She stared at him blankly, it felt like the right thing to do.
“You live around here? I haven't seen you before.”
She said nothing back to him, just nodded and continue to awkwardly stare at him with a blank clueless gaze.
He placed the sack of carrots down,
“Yep. Been working the fields here my whole life. It's good work but lonely.”
She said nothing.
“Would be nice to have someone to keep my company sometime. If you want to head with me to the tavern one night?”
She thought about it for a moment. Not about going with him to the tavern what ever that was. It was not going to happen. She thought about how this person was much like wall. How similar he was to a wall. He was just there! Blocking her from going to the other side, she knew she wouldn't be able to walk through him, and while he moved like a door, she couldn't open and close him at will. He was so much like a wall that it was even causing her a bit of face pain. If only in her forehead.
She also thought that maybe he shouldn't be standing there anymore. Maybe he needed to get back to work?
“Well,” he said as he reached down to pick up his sack of carrots, “I have to get back to the fields. These things don't pick themselves you know!”
She felt a little shocked that he seemed to do just as she wanted. This needed to be played with! Experimented on! Experienced!
She then thought that he should give her a carrot. After all she's never eaten one before and wanted to know what it was like.
“You just take time, and if you want to go to the tavern with me let me know.”
He started to walk away but then stopped and turned around, “Oh and here! You can try one of my carrots. If you haven't had one before be sure to wash it off by the stream down the road here.”
He held it out and she took it from his hand.
“Okay now, you be safe. Bye now.”
Holding the carrot in one hand, she felt her mouth open again. It wasn't to talk or to eat, but it just felt correct to have open after these recent events. That some how her mouth open expressed a feeling she was feeling at that very moment. She, some how, was able to get him to give her a carrot and walk away just by thinking about it? No! That's crazy! She closed her mouth. It must of just been chance. Maybe she felt something or was lucky with a guess of what would happen.
